2015.008.020 A: Christmas card, to the Frank A. Wiley family from Bobby and Peggy Fogleman, dated 1947. Side-fold card. Front features color illustration of a young woman wearing dress with hoop skirt and puffed sleeves and a small cap with long blue feather. Beside woman is a two wheeled cart loaded with red and yellow flowers(?). In background is a red house or barn and yellow trees. The colored portions of the illustrations are formed with small X-marks, resembling cross-stitch work. Printed red border across top and bottom. Below illustration is printed black text "Merry Christmas". Inside center is printed with red, blue, and yellow illustration of three gabled buildings surrounded by yellow trees; a pattern of red and blue stars stretches from the houses to the upper edge of the left page. Right page is printed with black text "GREETINGS / AND BEST WISHES / FOR A / HAPPY / HOLIDAY SEASON". Handwritten in black ink below the illustration is "Bobby & Peggy". Back of card printed, in lower right corner, with text "MADE IN U.S.A."
2015.008.020 B: Envelope, white paper, postmarked December 19, 1947, High Point, NC. Addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. F. A. Wiley & family / 1016 Albert / City". No return address. On reverse, two identical stamps are affixed: rectangular, bearing illustration of a man walking beside two oxen pulling a plow, with date "1947" in upper left corner, and red border bearing text "MERRY CHRISTMAS".
